100% Nero d'Avola from Funaro's Salemi estate in western Sicily. The vineyards sit at approximately 140 meters above sea level on loamy-clay soils rich in organic matter with a distinctive pebbly structure. Harvest takes place during the coolest hours of the day between the first and second weeks of September. The grapes are macerated on their skins for approximately 10 days and fermented in stainless steel at a controlled temperature of 20°C. Following natural malolactic fermentation, the wine remains in stainless steel before bottling and additional bottle aging. Organic.
Tasting Notes
Ruby red with purple hues, this is a bright, fruit-driven expression of Sicily's flagship red grape. Aromas of cherry and blackberry leap from the glass, while the palate delivers ripe dark fruit, supple texture, and the vibrant acidity that makes Nero d'Avola such a versatile food wine. Rich enough to satisfy, yet fresh enough to remain lively and balanced through the finish.
