2024 Marty Mathis Godello 'Guichard Vineyard'

100% Godello (a Spanish white grape varietal) from the Guichard Vineyard in Saratoga. Marty planted these vines himself in 2015.  The Godello finds an incredible intersection of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.  Richer than Sauvignon Blanc (with no grassy aromas) but more acid and lively than CA Chardonnay.  There secondary flavors of mountain side herbs and coastal minerality that comes out with breathing (a few hours open in the fridge).Medium bodied, quietly delicious without punching you in the face, and eminently well balanced. This is the side project of Marty Mathis, son of Kathryn Kennedy and winemaker for Kathryn Kennedy winery for 40+ years. One of the only, and certainly the best, wine made from this grape in the United States. Give it a try and support a local passion project!
