100% Sauvignon Blanc from multiple vineyard sites from the Awatere Valley and the Wairau Valley in Marlborough, all farmed sustainably. 80% estate fruit from a family owned and operated winery. Grapes were crushed and destemmed prior to pressing and fermentation occurred in stainless steel at cool temperatures to preserve the lifted aromatics in this wine.
Tasting Notes
This is a classic, well made and well priced Marlborough New Zealand Sauv Blanc, with explosive aroms of ripe citrus, tropical kiwi and passionfruit, gooseberries and fresh cut herbs with slight grassy notes. Medium-light bodied and crisp, with high acidity and a slight hint of creaminess to the palate from a bit of lees contact. Great as an aperitif or match with seafood, smoked fish, fresh salads, or chargrilled vegetables.
About Mount Riley
Mount Riley was founded in 1992, when owner John Buchanan decided to leave his job with the second largest winery in New Zealand to go back to his roots. John is a fifth generation Marlborough citizen and Mount Riley is a true family winery; with John’s daughter Amy managing winery operations and his son-in-law, Amy’s husband, Matt Murphy as the winemaker. Matt was the winemaker at Craggy Range for 7 years before marrying Amy and joining Mount Riley.
Mount Riley owns 10 vineyards in Marlborough and the winery is five miles south of Blenheim. Each vineyard brings unique qualities and terroir to the Marlborough blend.
