Roughly 75% Chardonnay and 25% Pinot Noir from the Leona block. Farming is sustainable and regenerative- the advisor is Ken Swegles, co-owner of Madson Wine in Santa Cruz and Rhizos Viticulture. Cofermented with native yeasts in stainless steel and aged on the lees for a few months before being bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal sulphur additions. 12.2% alcohol. Only 12 cases made! Pours a beautiful coppery, almost Campari-like color. The nose is delicate and fresh, with some hints of Red Delicious apple, white flowers and a hint of creaminess. Light in body but with a really interesting mouthfeel- tangy, tart watermelon fruit seems to hit first, with some pithy tannin. The wine then rounds out in the mouth, with really bright acidity. Definitely has a bit of bitter, tart, Campari-like feel to it. Unusual and delicious.
