100% Sauvignon Blanc; fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel. The young wine was then left on light lees to further develop weight and complexity until being blended together then prepared for bottling. 12.5% alcohol.
This is classic Marlborough, New Zealand: all lemon pith, grapefruit, passionfruit, and ripe cantaloupe. Generous and weighty on the palate despite the restrained alcohol.
The Glover family’s vineyard started as a fully functioning, 4th-generation dairy farm. It was the 4:00 a.m. wake-up calls for milking and feeding that eventually wore the Glover kids down. The Glovers sold the cows and found themselves left with a stretch of land a few miles from the sea with fertile, silt loam soils. In 1988 the vines went in, and the kids experienced a whole other kind of back-breaking work! The Massey Dacta is named after the Massey Ferguson Tractor, a staple of rural New Zealand farming. The Glover kids couldn’t get all the words in as kids and referred to the big red tractor as “Massey Dacta.”
