100% sustainably farmed Chardonnay from Les Ricey, an area much better known for Pinot Noir. Partially fermented in wood, with 3 years on the lees and a substantial portion of juice from a 20+ year old perpetual reserve. It pours a lovely light golden color and is full of baked Granny smith apples, raspberry, white plum and toasted nuts on the nose, with a creamy medium-medium full body, plenty of fresh, tangy acidity, very fine bubbles, and good length. Very well balanced. Excellent quality for the price here. Located in the village of Les Riceys, in the heart of the Côte des Bar, the Gallimard domain has been passed on from father to son for 6 generations. Today, father and son Didier and Arnaud farm 29 acres of vines and make about 12,000 cases annually.
